LIGHT UP THE CHURCH!
« Posted: 26 Nov 2011, 11:21:45 »
Look at all the villages around us, pretty much everyone has their church illuminated at night. Wouldn't it be nice to have our church in light at night!

What can we do to get this in motion?

This was suggested as a project for the Millenium but was not supported as most people preferred a children's play area, and actually we didn't get either!  there have been complaints about the Church bells, and I know some will be unhappy with the "light pollution" if the church was lit up.  Whilst I like to see Churches lit and in doing so burglars are deterred, there are the issues of who would pay the bills and is it environmentally friendly?

Agree with what you say Mr G with costs, but the L.E.D light world is superb these days and cheap to run. It would be great to have, maybe from the landfill site could help with funds?

The church bells have always rung in the village, and long may it continue. As for light pollution, if your in your house at night with the lights on, you wont see the church lights. Most of the church lights also go off at 10:00pm.

FWIW, there is a childrens play area being built on the KC1 development as part of the 'Section 106' agreement.

A lovely idea to floodlight our church but given it's rather hemmed in location is it sufficiently exposed for floodlighting to be widely appreciated, say from key village streets? I do enjoy seeing 'stand alone' churches floodlit, like Southwick, Nassington and others.
