Save the Underground Centre!
« Posted: 28 Sep 2011, 15:59:01 »
Underground are applying to the National Lottery for funding to enable the Underground Children's and Youth Centre to continue. Thanks to the dedication and goodwill of a brilliant team of volunteers and the support of the local community, the Centre has proved to be a huge success over the past 3 years. At least 120 youngsters aged between 0 and 18 come through the doors each week from King's Cliffe and all our surrounding villages and even a few from Stamford and Peterborough! The Centre has now become so big that we need a manager to ensure that Underground continues and develops and this is what we want the funding for. With the new housing development in the village, the need for Underground is going to be even more crucial. Underground provides a vibrant, safe and multi-functional place where children and young people can grow in confidence, try new things, learn new skills, and have lots of fun off the streets and engaged in positive activity. There are so many things that we can do if we carry on and, having seen Underground develop from a single youth club to a whole timetable of activities for 0-18's, it would be devestating to have to fold the charity. Please can you help us? We're asking people to write us letters or emails which we can use to suppport our application. If you feel able to put fingers to keyboard or pen to paper in support of Underground continuing in King's Cliffe, we would be so grateful. Also, please use this forum to document your views if you'd prefer. Many thanks for your support - it really is much appreciated.

Sounds like Underground has become a victim of it's own success.  Well done and commiserations :)

Where do we send letters and emails to?

Yes, you're absolutely right, we have indeed! Oops, it would've been useful to put where to send letters/emails to wouldn't it! Sorry about that! If letters could be addressed to the Underground Management Committee and either sent or put through the door of the Village Hall (Church Walk entrance) - there is a post box to the right of the main door. Please send emails to weekskate1979@aol.com. Many thanks.
