Caravans at KC active
« Posted: 30 Apr 2016, 19:44:38 »
Is KC active now a holiday camp ?  There are 3 caravans there, one of which is blocking access to the defibrillator.

Does anyone know why they are there and how long they will be there ?

I don't know if this is the same arrangement but a while back Augean got permission from KCA to put a couple of caravans on the site to house some temporary workers.

Perhaps someone from KCA can comment?

In response to the comment regarding KC Active being a holiday camp - the answer is no it is not. The caravans parked are contractors for Augean, on behalf of the Council, which the Parish and District Councillor are aware of. Regarding the defibrillator the caravan was not blocking access and was only there as a temporary measure until it was sited properly on Monday. They are here until August.

The caravans parked are contractors for Augean, on behalf of the Council,

Which Council, NCC? Augean are a private limited waste handling company who bought the 'Cliffe site from its previous unscrupulous operator. Most likely NCC were sold the idea of benefitting from their hazardous waste facility, by Augean. Around that time the Govt. encouraged every County in the land to provide a hazardous waste facility. For better or worse, few did. As KC Active greatly benefit from Landfill Tax funding the temporary placement of the 'Augean caravans' is I understand, a reciprocal favour.
