KC Active October Update
Charities are invariably dependent upon the volunteers who give their time and KC Active is no different.  Without the support of Sid Morris, Tony Peatfield, Dave Lupton and Margaret and Trevor Burton unlocking and locking there would be no activity on site and for this we express our grateful thanks; with best wishes to Tony Peatfield for a return to good health.  The Trustees are also volunteers and thanks are therefore due to these for their various contributions – including especially those former Trustees who thought that they had retired from active duty but are still very much to the fore!

There has been a number of changes of late which we hope you have noticed, but if not here’s the highlights:
•   A new brand for KC Active, which involves a new logo, a refreshed website (www.kcactive.co.uk) a refreshed facebook page (KC Active) and finally some activity on twitter (@kc_ACTIVE) all led by David Milford.  Please visit, like and follow as appropriate.
•   A number of new Trustees, so in full: Andrew Pick, Simon Fairhall, Richard Lattimore, Katy Weeks, Margaret Burton, Mike Herring, David Milford, Steve Howells, Paul Lumsdon and Ian Cooke with George Šmíd representing the Parish Council
•   New contact details for Margaret Burton for booking the facilities - telephone 0333 0062129 or email enquiries@kcactive.co.uk or visit the new office at KC Active

A further change has got a lot closer with the news that we have been successful in our application to Sport England Inspired Facilities for the construction of Tennis / Netball courts on the site.  The £74 015 secured together with the £35 000 previously secured from East Northamptonshire Council puts us well on our way and we just need to secure a final amount from KCEA to get started on building, hopefully early in the Spring of next year.  We are just getting some new quotes to ensure that we apply for the correct final amount.

Accompanying this capital award we have also secured some revenue funds through Sport England Small Grants to purchase some sports equipment for Tennis, Netball, Hockey, Petanque and Table Tennis - where do we want to locate an outdoor Table Tennis table, possibly 2?  But more importantly is there anyone who would like to train to become a coach or umpire in these sports to help us develop the delivery of local community sports activities for Kings Cliffe and area?  Please volunteer to Simon Fairhall.

STOP PRESS - STOP PRESS - STOP PRESS
KC Active is delighted to be on the shortlisted for the Northamptonshire Sports Awards Sports Project of the Year Award 2015.  This is a new category for 2015; this award celebrates those that have successfully delivered a project in Northamptonshire that has helped to regularly increase and sustain participation in sport by Northamptonshire residents.

These prestigious awards now in their 11th year are run by Northamptonshire Sport with the ceremony to be held on Thursday 12th November 2015 at Hanger One, Sywell Aerodome  from 6.30pm.  A group of Trustees of KC Active and the essential volunteers that make sport happen in this project – from those involved in planning our new Gym, the organisers of our Back to Netball activity plus those who open up and lock up and help maintain the site – will all be in attendance.

Vice-Chair of KC Active Simon Fairhall commented “This is more great news for KC Active and it’s great promotion for the project which I hope gets noticed by all those who live in the area around Kings Cliffe because we are keen to involve them too.  It’s also a great opportunity for us to say thank you to our volunteers, inviting them to get dressed up and come and enjoy the ceremony”

KC Active has recently relaunched its website www.kcactive.co.uk and is developing its facebook - KC Active and twitter @kc_ACTIVE presence and  we would be delighted to welcome visitors who want to play football (juniors and seniors) RUSH Hockey, Netball and various fitness activities and soon Tennis, Table Tennis, Walking Football, Petanque and hopefully a new community gym which is our next project development.
