Wildplaces - Pytchell Workparty
« Posted: 05 Oct 2015, 16:12:30 »
After the stupendous work on Maltings Green and The Horsewater, we've been asked to plan and manage the bank of the Willowbrook in the Pytchell for wildlife and villagers! Right up our street :)

The basic planning is done, and will involve wetland/marsh, pond, log piles, a rock pile and of course wildflower areas.

The first major workparty will be on Saturday 10th October, where our main priority is to clear the willows from the river, and start to lay some of the log piles. There will also be pond digging and scrub clearance work to do!!

We will also be working there on Friday 9th and Sunday 11th!!

So - special call - we particularly need people comfortable with chainsaws, or bow saws. We have a lot of wood to shift, and before we can even get to the Pytchell water side (in a punt!), we have trees to clear from the river at the horsewater.
Pond and scrub work will be the usual spades, secateurs, pruning saws etc.
Gloves and wellies would be a good idea :)

We will be starting at 9am on the Saturday to get a good day's work in, so please get in touch if you can lend a hand (even for an hour or so).
