Kings Cliffe Heritage Centre
« Posted: 20 Aug 2014, 13:46:38 »
I visited the Heritage Centre on Friday along with my dad, who must be one of the eldest residents of Kings Cliffe.
What a wonderful place, full of really interesting photos and artefacts and beautifully displayed. It was great to see wood work that my great great uncle William Bollans made.
It is well worth a visit, I could have spent hours there just looking at the old photos alone.

Where is that in the village?  I am wondering if the WW2 heritage is included?  RAF Kings Cliffe was instrumental in winning the war;  they supported the 6 June 1944 D Day landings.  There was a huge posting of american soldiers in the area and some buildings remain around the airfield off the Kings Cliffe/Wansford Road in various stages of dereliction.  There are some really interesting videos on Youtube - type in station 367 Kings Cliffe and watch the 5-6 videos of the 20th fighter group.

Best wishes
Sandra

Hi Sandra,
The Heritage Centre is half way up the hill on Bridge Street on the way to Apethorpe.  It is well worth a visit, have a look at the website here http://kingscliffeheritage.org/ I became a member recently and find the amount of information there is amazing.
