In almost every Parish Council meeting, the abuse of the Bottle Bank at Kingsmead is brought up.

East Northamptonshire District Council, who run the facility, are getting to end of their tether and looking at the photo below, one can see why. ENC have to send out a cleanup team every time this happens and it's costing a fortune.

As anyone can see, this isn't recycling material being responsibly deposited; it's household rubbish being carelessly dumped!  >:(

If anyone knows who's responsible for this, and the many other instances, of irresponsible dumping then please tell the Parish Council; either through the clerk kcpcclerk@aol.com or via any of the Councillors (contact details are on the PC website: pc.kingscliffe.net/councillors.php).

If this abuse isn't stopped; we're very likely to lose the facility altogether.

This looks more like fly tipping/house clearance, do ENDC look at the stuff for evidence of where it comes from, such as addresses on boxes etc ?

Do we really need this? There's a clothes bin at the endowed school, and bottles and recycling can be put into the green bins. In my (humble) opinion this facility could go, and might stop people dumping stuff here?

...and there's the 'dump' at Weldon for those with larger consignments of stuff.

Having said that, our modest recycling facility does seem to be well used so it would be a shame to loose it.

On a positive note, the Parish Council have been given details of those thought to be responsible and the details are being passed on to the authorities (both ENC and the Police).

Thanks to those that came forward with the info.

I fear that if the facility goes people will still dump in the area.  Here's a thought for the parish council - Augean who have imposed themselves on us for a good few years yet have holes in the ground to fill.  Could the PC ask them to bring a skip down into the village for just this sort of dumping and agree to empty it on a regular basis.  Failing that why not increase the precept so that the village as a whole can benefit from easier waste disposal.  I know Weldon is not far away but people want to do things as easily and cheaply as possible.

Graham, There must be many who hold similar thoughts about Augean helping with village waste. They are the waste experts. If they can handle hazardous safely what's a small amount of domestic rubbish, especially when their holes are filling less quickly than planned. We would even be helping them! Augean's assistance would be timely having recently imposed themselves upon the village until 2026. There's an Open Day at the site soon. Villagers could request their help when seeing the site which is worth visiting. As you suggest definitely something that the Parish Council should explore. Perhaps District and County too?
