New cables between Kings Cliffe and Wansford
« Posted: 31 Jan 2013, 16:19:47 »
It looks like new cables are being laid by the side of the road between Kings Cliffe and Wansford. Anyone know what the cables are for? Are we getting super fast broadband? Cable TV? Is it anything exciting?!

Good question.  Not seen it myself (don't get out much!) but I'm told it's a serious amount of stuff they're putting in the ground.

I guess there's not a lot of point in asking the chaps doing the work; they'll just be contractors.

I asked the men laying the fibre optic cables on the Blatherwycke road and they told me that they were laying 50 miles of cable to the surveylance centre being built near Kirby Hall, beware, big brother is watching YOU!By the way the cable instalation is costing several million pounds.

Heather Smith, our County Councillor, confirmed this last night to the PC; the cables are heading to a new 'data centre' near Kirby Hall.

Sadly they're nothing to do with improving local services.

However.... there is some positive news; see the thread entitled "Superfast Broadband" :)
