Bells at All Saints and St James Parish Church
« Posted: 06 Nov 2012, 09:25:43 »
The bells at our Parish Church are now back in place after their 100-year service.  They can now ring out once more to call the people to Sunday Worship, to mark the passing of loved ones and to celebrate the joy of those getting married.  They will be heard regularly on Sunday mornings from 0930 to 0955 and on our Practice Night which is from 1930 to 2100 on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

Prior to their service the bells had become very heavy to ring as the plain bearings on which they were hung and the pulleys which guide the ropes had become very worn.  The bells have been re-hung on sealed-for-life roller bearings, the wheels have been repaired and the pulleys, slider rails and sliders have been replaced with new.  The bells have also been re-tuned.

The work was completed by Taylors of Loughborough assisted by volunteers from the Peterborough Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers: David Teall, Chris Burgess, Alex Dyer and Murray Coleman.
