Queens Jubilee Picnic in Burghley Park
« Posted: 26 Apr 2012, 15:10:46 »
The following information has been sent to me from Rose Little, Pocket Parks Co-ordinator and maybe of interest to you. Hilary Blunt, Parish Clerk.

The Diamond Jubilee Picnic is being held at Burghley House, Stamford on Wednesday 13th June.

Her Majesty has expressed the wish that as many voluntary organisations in the county as possible be represented at this event, in recognition of the outstanding work they do in our communities.

So, if you belong to a community group and would like your organisation to be included among those considered for invitations, please reply as quickly as possible to events@ncf.uk.com. State your name, your group's name and the number of tickets you would like.

The Northamptonshire Community Foundation will then pass your name and email address on to the organisers, who will get in touch if you are successful.
Background information:

The Jubilee Picnic is for guests from Northamptonshire, as well as Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Rutland. The Queen will visit the picnic in the middle of the day.

This is a very significant historical occasion.  Queen Victoria visited Burghley House during her Diamond Jubilee Year in 1897.

The total attendance is limited and each person invited will be issued with two tickets.  The tickets are free but there will be a charge of 20 per vehicle for parking.  Participants are encouraged to bring picnics and there will be suitable food available for purchase on site.

The gates will open at 9.30am.  There will be aerial shows and entertainment provided by the four counties throughout the day on central stages, together with military bands and displays, finishing at 4.30pm.  At the centre will be four tents displaying the best of each county.

Hi Hilary

Thank you for posting the Burghley Picnic notice.  Kings Cliffe Almshouse and School Foundation Charity managed to get tickets and it seems a good day was had by all.

Underground were given tickets by Spire Homes (who give funding to us) and we had a great day too!
